ARM Cortex-M0
M030G/M031G Optical Communication Series
The M030G/M031G series of 32-bit microcontrollers are designed for optical modules, which have three main characteristics for general optical modules: (1) temperature sensitivity, (2) small size, and (3) communication using I²C interface. Therefore, both M030G and M031G series come with a built-in temperature sensor with ±2 °C accuracy, offering a choice of QFN24 and QFN33 small package options. Additionally, they are equipped with two sets of I²C interfaces supporting 1 MHz slave mode and clock-stretching functionality.
In emerging wavelength division multiplexing scenarios, optical modules require support for the add/drop function, which involves overlaying Optical Add/Drop Multiplexing (OAM) messages on the original signals for transmission to achieve OAM functionality. Therefore, the M031G series supports add/drop functionality for optical modules. It incorporates a hardware Manchester encoder with CRC support for modulation and demodulation of low-dispersion frequency signals. It also includes a DAC with automatic data generation functionality that can produce smooth sine waves at a frequency of 500 KHz for use as add/drop output. Whether for general optical modules or add/drop enabled ones, Nuvoton provides suitable solutions.
Key features of the M030G/M031G series for optical module solutions:
- Hardware Manchester encoder*
- DAC with automatic data generation functionality*
- Temperature sensor accuracy of ±1.6 °C (@0 ~ 70 °C) / ±2 °C (@ - 40 ~ 105 °C)
- Small packages: QFN24 (3x3mm) / QFN33 (4x4mm)
- I²C support for 1 MHz slave mode and clock-stretching
- Target Application: Optical communication modules
